 Pedale mit aufschraubbaren [[Staubkappe]]n fallen oft aus, weil die Staubkappen abgefallen sind, so dass Schmutz in die äußeren Lager eindringen kann. Daher sollte man den Sitz der Staubkappen regelmäßig kontrollieren. Wenn eine Staupkappe fehlt, sollte man das Pedal möglichst bald warten, um einem Lagerschaden vorzubeugen.
